DougK94
This morning about 4 AM, I got awakened by monitoring alerts on my Blackberry about my main mail server and my backup mail server. It seems some spammer sent out a mass spam email using non-existent email accounts using one of the domains I host. So I had about 25,000 reject, and challenge response emails clogging up the incoming queues on both servers, bringing them both down to a crawl..... 12 hrs later it is down to a tolerable rate of about 1000 an hour. I wish people knew how to configure their mail servers properly and not send out rejection notices. And also use the SPF, DKIM and various RBL lists, along with some of the other proven spam fighting tools. With 25,000 rejects, I wonder how many actually were delivered to someone. The IP address that sent these out originally is from South Korea and is on all the RBL lists. now I bet some people will block all email from this domain.... Just venting a little and frustrated......

DougK94
LOL.... I would not be near so pissed if it was because of someone hacking one of my servers and sending them out, that would be shame on me... But when the IP that was sending the SPAM is on EVERY RBL list.......

Jissh
Last time we had a large spam issue it was due to Trojans on one of our business clients networks. Took a couple days to get it all sorted out, then charged the client for over resource usage and a huge ass clean up fee.
