Guest LeckyGenius
Hi, I have an 8MB ADSL connection at home which performs just as it should really, and soon to become 16MB when the exchange near me is upgraded. What I would like to know (as I have a powerful computer sitting around and would like to make some cash of my friends), is how many game servers I could host on this with my connection, or should I go for a data centre. I know this is quite a difficult question as different servers = different BW, but just give me a rough guide and assume that there are no other outgoing connections or incoming ones. trev-gdr
If you plan on hosting game servers to sell, do not host out of your own house.
Spartanfrog
For Source servers (Not TF2): 33 Tickrate 5 KB/s or 40 kbps 66 Tickrate 12 KB/s or 96 kbps 100 Tickrate 18 KB/s or 144 kbps So if you have pure 8MB UPLOAD, you could get 55 100 tickrate srcds slots. Course you would get really bad ping. Also, TF2 takes more bandwidth.
