RackGaming
Hey guys, Can someone just confirm for me the following: A Quadcore CPU running at 2.8 does not mean the actual "True" speed is 11.2GHZ but instead it is a 2.8GHZ chip running 4 cores which lower the processing usage by 4x. I know its a nooby question but some guy seems to think the oposite so just wanted to see what the other GSP techs say who have been in this industry much longer. Thanks Guys. Defcon|Rich
That's correct. The speed is still as rated. (2.8ghz) regardless of how many cores and/or cpu's the machine has.

Creed3020
I've never seen anyone add up the speed of the various cores on a processor, or the processors themselves. The speed is definatly not the sum of all cores.
