Hello i just ordered the reselling stuff on HurricaneHost.com. They sent me a email sayin:

We've setup the Ventrilo Servers' domain names to use your 420-club.com domain name (like dfw01.420-club.com). These are DNS entries that you need to create and maintain on your DNS server for 420-club.com. If you wish these entries to be something different, you can modify them from within the Control Panel. These are the entries you and your clients will see when logging into the Control Panel and these are the entries you and your clients should use within Ventrilo itself (not the IP Address, but the hostname). This is in case something goes wrong with the server and the voice servers have to be moved your clients will not have to change their client software, only you and I will need to change our respective DNS servers. If you do not have the ability to edit your DNS Zone File, then you'll need to get with your Web Hosting provider to edit your DNS Zone File for you.

What does this mean and what do i do?

It means that for 420-club domain, you need to add in DNS entries. You need to add a A record for say LAserver1.420-club.com that points to 1.1.1.1 (the IP that the "DNS" entry lists). I don't know if I explained that well. If you want me to show it to you, just IM me.

  • 2 weeks later...

that means you need to log into your WHM panel ( I am assuming you use cPanel/WHM) as your root. Add them under DNS settings.

If you don't have your own dedicated with cPanel/WHM, then you will need to ask your provider to do it for you.

FYI..... For that many dns entries, they will probably charge you.

this email sounds more complicated than it really is. You should NOT tell your Webhosting company to modify any zone records for your domain or you will not be able to visit your forum any longer. the Zone record for 420-club.com basically stores ttl, serial #, hostmaster contact, and resource records such as NS and A names. Your A name value is an IP address, this IP is of your webserver where your hosting your site. What you should do is just create a sub domain of 420-club.com which I beleive he is telling you to do (dfw01.420-club.com). Give everyone that subdomain to put into their vent client to connect to, forward that subdomain or have your webhost edit the subdomain A record to point to your Vent server IP.

Heres some info on ure domain:
