Raid with one harddrive?

NV performance graphics in a server?

LED fans?

Over expensive chips, you'll never use that ammount of power, TCAdmin isn't supported on 2k8, some wierd external drive thing, 1640 megs of storage.

Honestly that whole setup just feels wrong on a bunch of different levels.

Its to expensive, its 4u, its 2008, and its probably more then a full 1.5 amps to power.

On the brightside, at least you got a 3 year warrenty to cover the damages when someone pulls that behemoth system out of the packaging at your datacenter and drops it.

Now as for my suggestions, I like the Xeon X5430's they're cheaper, strong as hell, and load nicely. Look into supermicro for your new case/mobo, and get a quality name brand 250gb harddrive. You'll want reliability over capacity. Ditch the flashy LED fans, ditch the media drives and pre-format your systems before you send em out. Scrap the video card all together (This is a server, remember?) toss out that NAS bs you got going on, and downgrade to Windows 2k3 or Linux.

Someone else chime in, I probably missed something important.

EDIT: Take the money you saved, and get an amazing 10/100/1000 NIC from Intel. One of them fancy gold plated ones, they are sex for transit I only have one, and I notice FAR superior performance on that one machine versus all the others in the same DC.

Not to mention, you didn't even listen to the part about Win 2k8.. DON"T USE IT!...

lol.

Win 2k3, learn it, use it, love it. It really is the best. 2k8 is like trying to run a server off vista, and we ALL seen how well that went.

I don't entirely agree with that. Windows 2008 isn't too bad in my opinion, and nothing like running a server on Vista at all.

TCAdmin does work on Windows 2008, and runs smoothly without any issues, just a few things during the install that are different but nothing that would make me want to use Windows 2003 over Windows 2008.

Personally if you have the money for Windows 2008 and a good understanding of Windows then go for it, I imagine there will be more potential to come from it.
