What speed ram for servers

Also what do you guys think is the best ram speed to run for doing game servers

Depends on the machine, and the machine depends on your business model. Its useless to buy faster ram if your hard drive or CPU are bottle necking your resources.

It also makes no sense for a company with a very low profit margin to look at spending tons on a machine. Technology is constantly progressing today’s top of the line system is yesterdays news.

Evaluate how much you have to spend on a system then balance out the speeds on your parts so you don't have wasted resources. The only thing the game should influence is the quantity of ram and for that you need to look at whether the games you'll have on said machine are ram hogs or not. ;)

i was just wondering i forget where i seen it but someone said ddr2 800 was better to run because its faster then FB-ECC 667.

Just wondering what would be better 16GIG of 667 FB-ECC or just regular 12 GIG DDR2 800

Cheers

That all depends on the MoBo, FB-ECC and regular RAM are not the same. They have a different pin location and count.
