HLDSUpdateTool

Hello,

 

I'm trying to update games with HLDSUpdateTool through both TCAdmin and just the regular run command - and it always hangs at Updating Installation. Has never done this in the past and I don't know why it is now. Any certain ports to open? Any information is appreciated.

What game? Post your command line you were trying to use as well.

c:\hlds\HldsUpdateTool.exe -command update -game garrysmod -dir C:\GameInstalls\GMOD

 

Works on and off for any game - even with the firewall disabled.

HldsUpdateTool.exe -command update -game garrysmod -dir D:\GameInstalls\gmod10

 

works just fine for me, try reinstalling hldsupdtetool maybe

 

does it work with other games than gmod?

On and off - I'm going to try re-installing because I believe they made a version 35? Thanks for the help guys.

Open port 27031, I know that linux needed that port to connect to update service

Seemed to be a port / firewall issue.

Exactly, what types of problems are you having?

Three things to check

 

1. If running via command make sure hlsupdatetool is in the location you are updating from

Example

 

dir D:\GameInstalls\gmod10

 

2. if its being run by tcadmin it should be put in your monitor folder

3. Try adding the exe to your firewall

I am having the same problem that tehrichie had. The updater hangs at Updating Installation, whether it is started manually or from TCAdmin. However, it is able to download a new installation without any fuss.

Try deleting your InstallRecord.blob and then run the update.

There is a new issue with this now as of the latest release

 

try updating your servers i currently get

its a valve issue

 

even trying to add fresh files at a different location the error will still come up

Works fine on our end. Just updated TF2.
