Setting up TCAdmin for the first time

So I am installing the TCAdmin master on my first server before shipping it off to the datacenter. Just a few questions...

 

1) Under Servers I already have Master Server, do I also need to setup a server for it to work, or is Master Server alone fine?

 

2) I didnt really take much into account when setting everything up. I just installed what it said to, and installed MySQL. Is there anything I should do to secure it? Any good way to check for vulnerabilities that I might not be aware of?

 

3) Is there anywhere that really goes over everything I need to setup? I am getting fairly overwhelmed trying to figure out what to setup, where to set it up, etc.

 

4) Lastly, TCAdmin created a windows 2008 user called "TCAdminWeb" and im wondering why? Ive used servers before that did not have this user account and were running TCAdmin. Just wondering if I setup something incorrectly to cause this.

Master Server can be used to host game servers too.

Yes, thats windows so you gota install all the windows updates, I recommend you to install an antivirus to run scheduled scans every now and then, set up the windows firewall and disable unnecessary services.

Create a new user and give him permissions on userfiles and create the TCA services under his account.

If you got windows 32 bits you got even more to do to secure your machine.

depends what you have set up yet.

TCAdminWeb is the account for the iis services (your CPanel website basically). this is set up only on the web server (master)

Thanks for the replies! I didnt mean can I run game servers on the master, I was more referring to the admin manual (i cant find the link to it now for some reason) where it sets up a server after the master. I guess maybe that was just as an example.

 

Ive installed all the updates and have windows firewall running. Do you know if theres a good list anywhere of windows 2008 services that can be disabled safely? I googled for it but didnt find much. I already setup TCAdmin using the Administrator account, does this mean I am going to have to reinstall TCAdmin or can I just give the permissions to a user account? I have 64 bit 2008 so I guess in that aspect atleast I am safe.
