zykomaniac
Hello, Xeon X3330 Quad Core 2.66GHz 4096 MB Memory 500 GB Sata hardrive just curious about some stuff before I try setting this server up for game hosting. I've got a dedicated server placed in colocation with a 100mbit dedicated connection and it permits a 4000GB monthly transfer. What I was wondering about, how many Counter-strike Source servers at 100Tick, could it handle before reaching the 4000GB limit?
Santino Cid
On average, we had about 1Mb per 12 players. 4000 GB comes to about 12Mb of bandwidth for the month. Doing some math, about 144 players on the server 24/7 for the whole month will run out your bandwidth limit. Of course, this is based on an average and your results may vary. zykomaniac
Ah, so no worries about about having 180 player slots total? as I dont really see they are really filled closely to 24/
Santino Cid
Correct, idle servers hardly use any bandwidth at all. It's only when players are in them that a noticeable amount of bandwidth is used.
zykomaniac
Yes, I was aware of that, just needed a guesstimate on average usage, downloads of custom maps is off-server anyways. Thanks alot.
dimitrifrom31
dont forget custom files downloads they are bandwidth hogs

Derek
You will max out the cpu/memory before you ever use 4000GB of bandwidth on a Quad Core.
