Firewall issue

I have a dedicated server running win2k3 and I did not enable the firewall before I shipped it to its location. I would like to do this, but if memory serves me correctly if I enable the windows firewall it will shut down remote desktop. If this is correct does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this. I thought about making a batch file that would enable the windows firewall service, then use netsh to make an exception for remote desktop. Would this work?
