cod4 folders too big?

hey

We just started using tcadmin on a trial basis yesterday and so far it looks quite impressive.

But I have a question...

The main folder for the COD4 install is about 5/6 GB minus the video folder.

I noticed that whenever I make a new server it copies the entire folder over to Userfiles.

But it seems to me that's a little much. After 5 server's we will end up having 30gigs of used space.

I suppose the main reason for the folders being so small in our current setup would be that we keep launching the same exe. But it works none the less...

So why does TCadmin copy this many files over ?

Can we edit this in setup somewhere?

Or does anyone know how to slim down the main folder even further?

If anyone has some tips for running cod4 server correctly and efficiently it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the fast response.

well at the moment we are not renting out slots yet, that may come when we buy the software after we figure out how it all works lol.

But for us and our clan it would seem that it would suffice to share it.

I mean like I said that is what we do right now.

We have one main install folder and separate folders for each server with a minimum amount of files required to identify themselves (settings of cfg, ip, port etc)

I suppose what we could try to do is ading a New Service in Gaming Services.

At least what I understand from the description is that would be the way to import our current servers.

"This option is used to import existing game servers into TCAdmin. This option will not create the game server or copy the game files to the specified directory."

But I'm having a little difficulty filling it all out, not sure whats what.

As an example: Working Directory - is this Game folder or Server folder (game install or userfiles)

tbh i never used that feature cuz i never needed it.

WOrking directory is the root folder of your game server, just create 1 server normal way then check its "service properties" and you will get the infos you need to create additional game services using the same base folder.

But I would recommend you to just use separate set of files (6Gb per server) since disk space doesnt cost much and I assume your dedicated doesnt have only 10GB free.

Imagine you create 20 game servers that would be "only" about 120Gb which is not that much. this way you would keep it all clear and avoid some config issues.
