Viral Marketing

I'm sure some of you know that Justin Bieber is from Stratford, ON and that his success came from posting YouTube videos. I too am from Stratford and went to school with him for many years.

 

Anywho, on to the marketing part. My high school (the one Justin went to) has created a song and marketed it as download day to tons of people on facebook. "Download Day" was the name of the group which you can check here created in order to coordinate a download day for the song they released in attempts to make it to the top 200 on iTunes (Canadian iTunes which requires min. 1500 downloads in one day).... They made it to 174th.

 

I think it's pretty cool how easy it has become to grab the attention of tons of people with only a few keystrokes and an internet connection. On that note, it's unreal how many people from this town have started posting videos of themselves singing hoping to piggyback off the success of Justin. Hilarious.
