What CPU? E3 1240 or E3 1270

What cpu should i get ? Quad Core Xeon E3 1240 E3 1270 there really isnt any diff between them and here in AU there is a 100$ difference

 

What one should i grab ? do you guys think i would see a performance increase with the 1270?

Little to no differences...I don't think it worth the 100MHz. Well, not for 100$...

 

E3-1240 @ 3.3Ghz = 8 thread

E3-1270 @ 3.4Ghz = 8 thread

THe 1270 is clocked 100MHz higher and thus it also turbos higher to 3.8GHz. The scores on PassMark don't show a huge different. Either way these chips are hugely powerful, for example either of those CPUs is comparable to a 2x Intel Xeon E5440 @ 2.83GHz server.
