Hi, Just wondering do you need a cd key to host COD4 game servers? only reason I ask is steam games you can just download via hlds which dosn't require a cd key.

You do not need cd key. You only need game files in order to run server.

so for example i have an iso of the cd, to get the game files i would then have to install it which then asks for a cd key...which puts me back to square one heh

Your license is actually having the disc, so if you have the disc you can host it

 

There's some tutorials on google that explain how to move COD4 over, as some files are not needed.

Google for cd key. There's a lot of cd keys. You will be able to install game but not play multiplayer since that keys are banned or already in use.
