Ventrilo File Settings

Brandon

Recommended Posts

The time has come to tweak and config the ventrilo option. I've downloaded and imported the Ventrilo.txt available in the Game Configuration area.

ventrilo_srv.log: I need to setup access to allow the end-user to be able to view the .log file text. I don't want them to be able to 'edit' the file just view.

ventrilo_srv.motd: Right now I can only overwrite the existing text and can not modify the existing text. How would I allow the user to modify the existing text in the file?

Thanks!

ventrilo_srv.ini: When I goto edit this file -- the options are fantastic! But the only problem is that the settings that show up in the box are not what the current settings are for the server.

So each time I want to make a change to say the codec I have to also make sure to input the server name and password, or it will get overwrote by the default setting in the menu.

Any ideas?

I don't see what you are seeing Brandon. On our test sytem, when I click the configure link next to the ini file, I get pre-filled values based off what the ini currently contains. eg. I see the servername, phonetic name etc...

Log file fix will be updated in the next release. Anytime you create a file link that points to a file ending in .log, it will give the user a "download" link, which they can click to download the log and view it.

Initially - no it does not do that. But if I goto the config editor and change the server name.. After I change it once it then shows me the correct contents within the .ini file.

Also when I goto create a ventrilo server through the voice server tab and click new server > select ventrilo > it takes 1-2 minutes to load before I can select the machine and set settings. Any idea?

Another question in regards to upgrading or downgrading the server. If I change the server from a 5 slot to a 10 slot the maxclients in the .ini does not change. Is it possible for tcadmin to be able to change the maxclients when the size is changed from the 'service settings'?

Since it does not parse the ini file I see those fileds will be blank, or you can set a default config value for them in the configuration editor.

My new server popped up as Ventrilo server when I first opened the screen. However, after I change it to whatever and reopen theat screen, it displays what I enetered previously.

Since the file is not parsed, what you will need to do is enter a default value in the configuration editor for the fields that you don't want to leave blank.

Number 2, I would have to ask you to put in a ticket about. Ours pops right up in about a second. However, we only have one server to install to, where you have many I assume. So it may have something to do with the latency of going out to all your servers to check if Ventrilo is an installable option.

Since there is no commandline settings for slots in Vent, there is no way to change the player count automatically. It needs to be adjusted in the ini file after you update the service settings.

If you want the config editor to auto-populate a value for a field, you can go into the game config for Vent, click on default file links and then on Config Editor.

In the action column on the right, click the edit link next to the variables you want to set a default value for eg. servername.

Put something in the default value field and then save.

This will put a default value in that field for all servers, so at least it will not be blank when you open the config editor on the client side.

Worst case is it get's saved with the default value such as "Powered by Branzone!"

You can set a default value for any of the fields.

And I will ask about the reinstall button.
