Windows & Linux Server Performance And Optimization

Hi;

We are using Windows & Linux Server for our game servers. We are having problems to optimize our servers.

We dont know which one is full or have enough space to install have more game servers.

Windows & Linux Server perform different when it comes to memory and cpu usage. It makes more harder to decide a game server's performance is better on which OS system.

Linux use more CPU less memory and Windows use more Memory less CPU.

How can we allocate our resources well and optimize game server's installation on servers we have.e

Linux has more usable memory space and windows servers have more usable cpu space.

how can we utilize all our servers within optimum usage ?

Sorry if this is gravedigging, but I think this is a very valid thread.

We came across this also and in the end decided to just go with Windows, the reason being that while it's a RAM hog, RAM is a lot easier to get more of/expand than a processor. To combat the ram hog issues we also use process lasso that confines Windows to a single thread and can free up memory once it goes past a certain threshold. It's only 11 GBP/m (inclusive of VAT, the US it might be cheaper) which is a real bargain considering it can be activated on two machines.

But all in all, it comes down to optimisation at the end of the day. Best to avoid a headache and go Windows in my opinion.

All the best,

Jordan.
