Issue with COD Series/Steam

I'm using my steam files for COD, COD2, CODUO, and COD4.

 

All but COD4 are giving me hell. The other 3 are failing on startup, "Failed to find Steam". I'm starting to think that I may need to replace the executables with ones from the retail CD.

 

Has any else came across this issue? Found a work around?

I suggest just getting the game files from a CD.

CD files are the best way to go.....

I'm really starting to think I need the non-steam executables. If anyone would be interested in exchanging these executables in return for my COD4 archive, please let me know.

the 1.2 patch overwrites the stock multiplayer exe. Just install the patch locally and upload just the patch files to the server.

Thank you Dragon. Those executables worked nicely. The only exception was COD2, which had an older version incompatible with my latest steam files. So my last issue is to get my hands on a newly patched executable for COD2.
