Counter Strike Source Quad Core question

Hi,

I've just bought a New Dedicated server to host CSS.

The game seems to work fine then will start to lag some time after. Stuttering.

Once the game is restarted it is fine again for a while.

I've tried leaving the core options all unticked and all ticked. Problems the same. :|

Server tick: 66

Server.cfg info:

fps_max 300

sv_maxrate 20000

sv_minrate 2500

sv_minupdaterate 66

sv_maxupdaterate 66

Server Specs:

Processors: Quad Core Xeon X3210

Memory: 2GB RAM

OS: Windows 2003 Server Standard (SP2)

Load is never above 3% across all 4 cores.

Anyone any ideas if there is anything I need to do to the server with regards to quad core?

I run multiple CSS Servers per quad core xeon box. How long before the lag starts to come around?

Also have you used anysort of FPSBoosting software?

I think the issue is simply the game itself, i find if i leave the box running for 48hours or so the game servers simply dont perform aswell. There for my box is setup to reboot every morning at 4am. This seems to keep everything running nice and smoothly.

Hi,

The issue I have been observing more and more. I've noticed this more when the server has 8 people or more in.

It is particularly bad at the end of round. The dead bodies of the players jump(glitch) as if there is major lag.

Then the round starts and things seems stable again.

There is some in game lag while the rounds are in progress as well.

Here are the specs of the CSS server and checks I've done:

* My server is up to date.

* Latest Mani admin on metamod.

* meta mod.

* FPSBoost (running in the background which I have recently run to try to rod of the problem)

Thats all. I do not have es tools or event scripts installed.

So there is limited addons here to effect this issue.

There is also very little else running on the dedi box to cause this issue.

It sounds like your mods are causing the lag issue as they are loading up prior to map start. You might check the settings and ideally take off one mod at a time until the server becomes stable again to find out where the problem is.

You might also give some thought to optimizing your OS and removing services that aren't being used which should unlock some of the robbed performance on your box.

as I mentioned I am running no mods apart from Mani admin and meta mod which is only installed to run mani.

Everything else is standard.

What I did do was put on fpsboost and put the maxfps 600 in the start up line. seems to be sorted. (fingers crossed).

Question:

Can I go to 1000 FPS?

  • 2 weeks later...

TCA seems fine, ZBlock crashes the (game)server hourly though..Keep in mind.

Monster, this may sound dumb, but is the server comlpetely up to date? mismatched models can also cause serious skipping and jumping ingame, and weapon skip.
