Cybersquads
Hey, Just wondering what software/systems or methods everyone uses to monitor bandwidth across your server network. I’m just wondering what’s good and what isn’t.

xpservers
Hey guys I was looking into Cacti and its a very solid program. Can you guys use it to monitor CPU and resource useage as well ? Another question. If I install the Cacti application on a Linux box how do I set it up to monitor Windows remote servers ? does it use SNMP query ? what do you need to modify on the windows remote boxes to allow Cacti to collect data ? Thanks for any input guys
HIS-MOTHER
Once Cacti is installed the admin GUI is very friendly. It does in fact offer SNMP as a polling option as long as you set/install SNMP agent on the windows box and make sure you use private communities not public. jcarney1987
I know this is an old forum post but does cati monitor all applications for example say it tells you that ts used 1gb a day and aaserver used 2GB a day?
KingJ
No, Cacti only graphs SNMP data, which does not include bandwidth per server, it's very difficult to achieve that.
