SnM John
Ok, so what I would like to know and have not been able to figure out is the following: I have AA 2.8.3 being installed and it seems to run just ducky. But the remote connection utility isn't running so you cannot connect to the remote for the server. As far as I can tell you can't connect to it unless that remote utility is running period. I have searched the forums, and googled it etc for a couple days now with nothing that explains anything about setting up the server with this. What does everyone else that runs an AA server do? Just looking for possibilities here....I have a couple of ideas what i need to do, but am just looking for other insight into the problem before plundering into it head first...... Thanks.....sorry if i haven't explained myself thoroughly.
swish
Not sure what "Remote Control" thing you are tlaking about...
SnM John
Ok you install AA....with it you also install the server manager. part of the server manager is the server remote control utility. as far as i can tell you need to have this running to be able to connect to the game server remotely ( rcon ). I'll be the first to admit I don't know squat about this game and have never liked it. but a customer wants it and i want to see what I can do to get it going. is there a way to rcon the server without AA's own utility? My biggest problem is I haven't seen it even mentioned anywhere.....
swish
AA does NOT have "RCON" really. It has "In game admin" You set the username you want to be a player admin in the ini config file...when that user with that username logs in, press F12 and have the in game admin console. You do not need the Server Manager. That is for starting a server on a local computer (like my home one).
SnM John
K, thanks. I don't have it installed locally.....guess I'll have to ( cringe ) means hours of downloads...... I don't want to start the server manager tho so we are clear.....i know what thats for and what not and not the thing I want......as part of that tho there is the remote connection utility and with that running.......you just use it locally as well and connect to the server, start, restart the server...create game configs etc....thought it was pretty slick actually..... but I will look into the f12 thing ( which I did not know about ) Thanks
SnM John
Update: I have managed to make the AA instal and start using the AASM RCU. The big problem I am running into now is that AA doesn't seem to like any other ports but the default one/s Everything seems to suggest using multiple IP's which I can do. Just seems kind of foolish to me but wadda I know Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?
Jaggl
multihome=YOUR_IP
swish
You should use multiplue IP's for AA isntead of diffrent ports. AA server will not display properly in the browser on diffrent ports. Not to mention all AA players that connect to AA server using direct IP only will enter the IP with now port.
