Quadcore Xeon, TCAdmin, css cant hold 100 tick!

Wierd one this, im running my TCadmin software on box Alpha.

 

Spec is.

 

Dell R200 Quad Core Xeon 2.4ghz

4GB DDR2 667mhz Ram

 

Im using Windows Server 2003 R2 (64bit) Fully upto date etc.

 

The server is running TCAdmin and about 50 Player slots (4 servers) at 100TR. (CSS) Now even when the 50 player slots are empty and i log onto a server to test the css, its struggling to find the 100tick solid. Now could this be a issue of tcadmin working hard and therefor causeing this? The TCAdmin also controls another box, Bravo. Which hosts 1x 32player COD4 server. (also empty at time of testing).

 

Now my question is, is TCAdmin using alot of the server resorces therefor making the servers drop TR. (ive never had problems before hosting 100TR Servers).

 

Would you recomend hosting TCAdmin of a single box of its own, and then all the gaming servers being remote.

Having a single server for the master and web server, and no game servers, is ideal but can be costly to have an empty box. I know that when no one is logged into the web server, TCAdmin uses little to no server resources. When someone logs in and starts navigating around the panel, you will see spikes in the cpu usage.

 

Also, how are you testing the server's tickrate?

Simply measuring it in game using "net_graph 3", and its not my machine as others have tested for me also.

 

i just dont understand how a powerful machine like this isnt performing lol. Im litrally setting up another quadcore box now which i will move the game installs over to to test aswell.

 

Was just interested if there was any quick fixes or known solutions.

 

Getting another box isnt to much of a issue, nor is rackspace as i still have abit of which i can use.

I figured you were using net_graph_3. That is not a way to test server side tickrate or fps.

how would be the best way to test serverside.

To test server side FPS

 

1) Login as admin

 

rcon_password xxxxx

 

2) exe rcon stats command

 

rcon stats

 

It will tell you the cpu usage and server side fps. It does not tell you tickrate though.

Intel's horrible exec depth; which is probably causing the tickrate to slop off.

Are you 100% sure you are setting up the server config correctly and pingboosting the box?

 

You can run the configs at 100Tick all day but wont see ANY fps jump unless you pingboost your server.

 

I have a 100Tick CSS test server running on a Quad core 4 gigs of ram windows 2k3 standard 64 bit with Tcadmin. This sounds exactly like your setup. My server gets around 512 FPS with nobody in it.
