JasonF
This is a pretty complicated subject. Personally I do not know of any resources that would be of any help. The only advice I can give you is url]http://www.google.com/addurl/[/url] Yahoo - [u 1) Register your site with as many search engines as you can Google - http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html MSN - http://search.msn.com.sg/docs/submit.aspx NerdWorld - http://www.nerdworld.com/nwadd.html SplatSearch WalHello Aesop - http://www.aesop.com/add.html Alexa Canadaone Third party search engines that use Google Abrexa UK AngelServe Internet AOL AOL Australia AOL Canada AOL Search AOL UK AOL UK Search Ask.com ATT Worldnet Babieca Search Engine BitPile Bysurf.com Delphi DogPile.com Earthlink Euroseek Findinfo FindSpot Goo.ne.jp Google Australia Google Canada Google France Google Germany Google Italy Google Japan Google Spain Google UK HotBot ICQ.com InternetPortals Iwon Lycos Mccammond MetaCrawler.com MNPage.com My Way Netscape Netscape Search OnWashington Reference.com Search.com SearchBug.com Seekon StartingPoint Virgillio Zen Search Third party search engines that use Yahoo Alltheweb AltaVista Yahoo! Canada Yahoo! France Yahoo! Germany Yahoo! Irelend Yahoo! Japan Yahoo! Spain Yahoo! UK Yahoo! US 2) Search engines love text. The more text you have the better chance you will place higher. Also, if you want to be known for a particular phrase or wording, you NEED to have this on your site. 3) Having people link to your site helps increase your placement. That validates that the information is very useful and it will place you higher. 4) All search engines use different algorithms to place sites. So you may place high in Google but not in Yahoo. Don't be fooled by people that claim they can place you in the top 5 of search engines because you can NOT guarantee this. 5) Consider google admin tools, sitemaps, etc. Those tools are very helpful. https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/docs/en/about.html 6) Use the meta tags -> Title, Description, Keywords wisely. Do not overdue your keywords. Make sure you have plenty of information in both the Title and Description. Example: instead of having your main page say "Acme Servers", make is say "Acme Servers - Game and Voice Servers, Web Hosting, Dedicated Servers" Again be as descriptive as possible. 7) Do not "spamdex" That means loading the page with invisible text to increase your placement. If the search engines find this you will be penalized with very low placement. 8) If you are using graphical text, always use alt=""" descriptions of the images. If the image has text "America's Army Game Servers" make sure you have a alt="America's Army Game Servers" in the <img> tag. 9) In your meta tags, add <meta name="robots" content="index, follow"> to instruct search engine spiders to start at the index page and crawl all pages.
