Monk
1.6? CSS? 1000FPS, you say. 2000FPS, you say. Well: http://www.summit-servers.com/gary/summit-1millionfps.jpg This goes to show you how silly I am sometimes. Completely unplayable; but using 24 time threads to services approx 42K/sec of time queries is pretty amusing.

ECF
Great advertising gimmick. 1 million FPS servers
Monk
Not really On another note, VALVe has told me in private mail that if the server fps is greater than the tickrate, the server performs no better. But then again, the hl1.6 SDK wasn't ANSI C compliant, and wouldnt compile without major hacking. if(server->fps >= tickrate) { perform_no_better(); } But basically, a high server fps just tells people how high HZ is set to, basically.. it just measures latency gettimeofday() 2 times and subtracts it and viola! Todd Holley
This is a stupid question, but one I do not know the answer to. I am aware that a 1million fps server is not needed, just as a 1000 fps server is not needed. But why would a 1M FPS server be unplayable?
Steven Crothers
Hyper accelerated game time... Imagine a second in the game being 2 minutes of client time. The best descriptive word I can think of would be "shitty".
Todd Holley
Knew there was a simple answer, I laugh at myself when I make things too complicated. . So is there a noticeable difference with a 2000 FPS server?
