[MyIS]Dan
Hey guys, Got a issue, where we have for example COD4.rar on the gameserver, but each time we install a new one it re downloads, the files are the same just for example, the COD4.rar on the FTP is a week old compared to the one on the server, only difference is the date. Anyone know how to stop this from happening? Below is a copy of the console; Creating game server (Call of Duty 4)... Creating paths for game server... Copying game files from ftp server... Rar file exists.... Local file exists but it has changed on the FTP server. Local size: 5595915654 Remote size: 5595915654 Local modified date: 9/27/2008 11:53:31 AM Remote modified time: 9/7/2008 3:19:39 PM
ECF
The server should only down the new file once and then save it locally. From there any new server being setup should use the local file to create servers. Whenever you make a new zip file on the master the remote will recognize this and redownload it. [MyIS]Dan
That's what we want to happen, with new games, but with new servers we are "pre-loading" all the game files we have on there, then when we go to install a server, it redownloads the file - is there anyway to set it so it only checks the size of the rar's than dates? swish
In System Settings > Servers click on one of your servers and make sure the "Keep Local Copy" is checked.
[MyIS]Dan
Yup we have that that ticked, it seems because the file on the FTP server was put there on 20/09/2008 and the one on the server was put there on 25/09/2008 it wants to download the older one on the FTP even tho they are the same size. adamnp
I've had this issue in the past on occasion... I imagine it uses the atime/mtimes instead of the filesizes?
ECF
It uses the timestamp because in theory the patch sizes could be the same.
[MyIS]Dan
Anyway to disable the timestamp?
ECF
The timestamp feature is hard coded. Your best option is to make sure you game files are updated before pushing them out to a new server.
[MyIS]Dan
Roger, so if we put game file COD4.rar on the gameserver on say 1st of January, then change it on the FTP server (name change so modified date changes) on 10th of January, will it get redownload? ECF
Correct. If you change the file on the FTP the remote server will then re-download that file and save it locally.
