Adam, Did you have to overwrite the game's exe with a CD/DVD install to prevent it from trying to activate the copy?

Nope, worked perfectly fine :)

..

As far as direct2drive having any sort of corrupt hd's where they couldn't service my requests, I've yet to have that happen once in the years I have been using them...But a hardcopy isn't bad nonetheless I suppose just burn it once you download it? :)

I am sorry for the offtopic, but is the video folder needed or not for the dedicated servers? I understand that not.

removing the video folder reduces it by over gig. by the time everyone tells you no that it's file sharing and you read all there responses, you could have it uploaded.

i meant one of my drives. somehow (while playing cod5 no less...) it decided it wanted to forget it had a file system. i like a hard copy because its easier for me to keep up with.

I purchased from direct2drive, same price as instores, and downloaded it at 1.5MBPS.

Had it on the machines and ready for customer orders less than 2 hours after it was available, which even if I had a 5MBPS line at home still took less time than driving to the store to purchase the game and then creating an image of it for upload.

Simple solution, very effective, and you avoid all this file sharing nonsense.

That is excatly what we did and it worked very nicely. You are out of control for a short period but once the download gates open it is a waterfall of data coming your way :D

The last time I used direct2drive, everytime you tried to exe the game in dedicated mode it would prompt to activate the copy of the game.

This was for the first R6LV.

That's the only game we've had any problems with using direct2drive. If memory serves I believe we own 8 or 9 copies of that game... Gotta love UBI ;)
