How to get directx 10?

Currently only some of the ATI Cards take advantage of DirectX 10.1 4870, etc. Normally the only software that uses DX10 are games like Crysis, World in Conflict and a few others, most of them still use DirectX 9.

Windows 7 uses DirectX 11 with DirectX 10.1/10 emulation and of course still work with DirectX 9.x and probably below as Windows 7 is compatible with a larger set of software and hardware then Windows Vista.

Maney game and software developers have stuck with building for Windows XP and DirectX 9. Hopefully more developers will take advantage of the latest technologies while still maintaining high performance and optimization for current systems. This way larger groups of people can experience the visual quality of the games and software without too much of a loss in performance or require an upgrade to the latest most expensive graphics card.

If the software or hardware doesn't run on Vista it want run on Windows 7.

I've had Vista x64 since it was released. I only had problems with hardware for the first month or so. I do have some older games that want run but I knew that when I bought the O/S.
