Silly question :D

Recommended Posts

Here is a silly question I had in mind, I was wondering if it was possible to run the Master Server and a remote server on the same computer but on different IP :p

Just a question :D

It can and has been done. You'll need to edit the registry file and make a new one and call the install TCA2 or something like that and then point it to the second executable.

When you update the master and moitor it overwrites so make a backup of the reg file. ;)

Askk ECF or Luis, I think I sent them my reg file a few years ago when I was doing this although I was runnng two remotes, sort of a virtual TCA as it was seen as 2 seperate servers with 2 configs in the master.

I did it when I had a COLO client who wanted to have Desktop to his server but be able to install Restricted or Affiliate code to his server. So I made him a power user and the second install I made him owner of as well but the drive was partitioned and he had no access under that user where it installed the files.

I had it listed as server 1 and server 1.5 in TCA .. 1.5 being the restricted code that installed to the locked down partition.

Pretty easy to do and was not used for deceptive issues which I am sure it can be. ;)

You can also run them on the same IP just edit hte port on one IE 8888 and 8889 or whatever.

2.3.4 Allow any party to resell services through this software, without express written permission from Balance Servers.

I always assumed game servers = services, maybe I am not correct. I would clarify this before doing this.

Ok I am sorry I am not explaining things to clearly at all.

I am selling dedicated server access - What I do is I go into Tcadmin to one of the remote servers, and select under Dedicated Server Settings -> Server Owner then I set the Service Limit.

(Luckily according to my clients they did not sell any game servers)

And if the client that is renting out the dedicated server is not allowed to resell the game servers

I know lots of gamers that are doing this.

Good to know thanks DougK94 :D

and also what if we don't know if the client is reselling :(
