CS:S srcds.exe using more cpu now?

Has anyone else noticed a significant increase in processor core usage on counterstrike source lately? I have noticed this change on all of my servers with no changes at all. no changes to the game, windows, hardware etc.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I thought about the mods thing. I renamed the addons directory to stop any mods from running.

we just finished moving to a new server. processors have a higher frequency so srcds isnt pegging a core on a single install. It is coming close though.

dual 5410's. 1 32 slot 66 tick CSS server with no mods will run about 90% of a single core. 10 - 11% overall. Only thing i can possibly think of is service pack 2 on server 03 x64. I was kindof hoping it wasnt just me so that i wouldnt have to try and figure out what is going on.

i really wish my datacenter didnt run windows update when they installed the OS...

Anyone had this problem (and fixed it) before?

My CS:S server are working fine ... never had that to.

The only thing i could say is that maybe you have a client making some spawning material on is server. I had one client that was doing this on a DualCore E7200 and the CPU jump to 65% just for him ... he was making spawning about 700-800 guns on is server for the fun of it.

You should maybe check out your client process by process and search who is making it jump and why ... if you did not do it yet.

this paticular server is not part of the business. its setup for the gaming clan that actually spawned the business. i admin (with help) all the game installs on that box. other than basic mods for admin stuff there isnt anything on there that would do that. in thinking that a mod might be cause i renamed the addons directory and restarted one of the servers. same cpu usage.

im at a total loss. it doesnt seem to be the CSS modification. only thing going is that srcds is using a ton of processor. is there something in windows that might cause this? possibly a script in win server that runs for error checking on a process?

Try saving the server.cfg file somewhere and removing the current install and try a new one one downloaded via the HLDSUpdatetool.

Then put the server.cfg back where it belongs and start the server.

did that on the old box and the new. i can do it again if you want.

Win Server 2003 x64 SP2

Dual 5410 harpertowns running 2.33 GHz

8GB ddr3

all CSS servers are doing it. primary server 75.102.27.2:27015

ES 2.0.0.250

NO estools

a few basic ES mods. Still has the issue with ES running.

I actually had no files moved from old box to new. redownloaded everything and rebuilt the configs. pretty sure its not any specific bad file doing it.
