Counter-Strike Source Chokes?

I have a question..fr counter-strike source

i don't really play this game but..

 

i know that 0 choke and 0 loss is the best..

 

but if choke sometimes arise from 0-5 is that normal ?

with 0 loss.

 

because i been experiencing a server with choke arising sometimes 0-5

and i have been trying to fix this by :

 

updating drivers

fixing server.cfg rates etc.

client rates

put "start in cpu 0"

 

and still have no luck =/

 

is it normal ?

It makes me angry when there's a section in our server.cfg that says..

 

// RATE OPTIMIZATION - DO NOT MODIFY THESE

 

and what do the customers do, modify them and think they're making their server better, then they submit a support ticket saying they have got lag.

1 more question:

 

not really a CSS player.

 

I noticed that FPS can never be constant.. i mean frequent or often yes.

like 1000FPS

 

would that also apply to

tick rates?

 

can tick rates of 100 sometimes drop to 95 or 90 sometimes? but im not saying OFTEN.

like sometimes but goes back to 100?

or is it suppose to be constant 100?

You are running windows with hpet so you will not have constant 1000FPS and the more servers you put on a machine the worse it will get.

 

Just test it out you will see :)

Oh, I understand about the FPS

 

but how about tick rates? are they suppose to be constant ?

 

or can they drop if players have a "crap" ISP such as a slow connection like 1MB/ download speed. or something?
