LewisBeechey
Could someone from TCAdmin please set up the software on my server? I'm not sure how to configure it correctly and integrate it with my website. I also opened a ticket a few hours ago. Thanks, Lewis
Steven Crothers
To install, you simply click the installer... As far as integration, you will have to speak with a designer, or something who is capable of tearing your site into chunks and sticking it in the TCAdmin wrapper. However TCAdmin does not provide this service. *waits for someone to volunteer for free*
LewisBeechey
I'm fully aware of how to start the installer, I meant to say I don't know how to install TCAdmin onto my website.
vrod
The TCAdmin configuration utility will set it all up for you. Just click next, next, next...
LewisBeechey
Well, no, not really... I have set the website up in Plesk and want the TCAdmin Panel on it, so what would I do at this point?
studeggle
You don't set it up in plesk! If the ip And port is allready in use tcadmin can't use it. Tcadmin sets up it's own website on the ip and port you tell ot too the you tell your DNS server to point the desired URL at that ip and port (for most DNS servers you should stick to port 80 for the website as that is default and changing can be tricky to impossible)
LewisBeechey
Okay, I'll have a new IP set up but not in Plesk (only in Windows Server).
Dan M
Forget the idea of Plesk, it's another pointless conflict that Parallels like to sit back and watch.
Steven Crothers
Plesk and TCA do not mesh well. Dedicate an IP to hosting TCAdmin.
Steven Crothers
Forget the idea of Plesk, it's another pointless conflict that Parallels like to sit back and watch. PREACH! I agree, Plesk obviously doesn't care about their customer base. Considering some of the OLDEST feature requests have gone un-answered for almost a decade now. Multiple admins anyone? Nah just share one password between all your staff with root level permissions - it's all good!
ECF
We will not install to a box that has Plesk installed on it. There are simply too many complications.
Dan M
Lewis, I'd read up on using IIS and MYSQL server, along with WinDNS and abolish Plesk completely. It'll save you future complications, and as ECF said, TCA won't be able to do anything whilst Plesk is running. There are a few people on the forum which I'm sure would help you get IIS, MYSQL and DNS installed on your windows machine. -- PREACH! I agree, Plesk obviously doesn't care about their customer base. LewisBeechey
If anybody would be able to help then that would be excellent! After (not) much consideration, I've uninstalled Plesk (never been a fan of it).
Steven Crothers
We will not install to a box that has Plesk installed on it. There are simply too many complications. Is that a request you get often? Setting up IIS is pretty easy, perhaps a short screencast to explain it? It is all point and click after all. (Around ~6-7 to fully install it...) lol. Dan M
Google can also help you out, I'd give it ago yourself and see what you can achieve. If you need help, we'll be here. I suggest taking a look at this guide beforehand.. http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/29/installing-iis-70-on-windows-server-2008/

LewisBeechey
I have IIS Installed already - and have somewhat of an understanding of how it works. Just really need help on setting a domain name up without a control panel (DNS, NameServers etc). Thanks for all the responses though. Each and every one is appreciated. LewisBeechey
managed to install TCAdmin successfully on a new IP! Now just to figure out how to get Server 2008 to talk to the domain I want to use it with.
ECF
Plesk takes control over the whole ball of wax so to speak. It controls IIS, MYSql, ASP.NET etc... It can be done but it is an entailed job to install to a Plesk box. Luis can do it but I won't bother him with installs anymore.
Steven Crothers
Lewis, Perhaps using your domain registrars dns or your server hosts dns hosting would be a better choice for you?
LewisBeechey
I've completely removed Plesk. Steven - What do you mean? Do you mean something completely seperate to the Master server? (Such as a cheap Linux shared account on the side just to run the website) or something else? I was hoping to be able to get my domain talking to my Windows box. (If you know what I mean)
Steven Crothers
Just talk to your host, tell them you need to point a few a records to an IP, and you want to use their nameservers. They'll know what you mean and walk you through how to do it. Than you domain will talk to the ip, and display the page for you.
Dan M
I'd recommend hosting your own DNS, once it's configured that's it then. You'll only need to create a simple A record for any subdomains you want to create, plus it's more reliant anyway. Your host should be able to help you out with DNS, providing you give them access to your server. Who is your host?
LewisBeechey
I'm with SolarVPS (who I'd highly recommend, by the way).
