MjrNuT
Hi, I know Derek is the operator. I've never signed up to receive email for offers and such. I've looked at your site, true, but never entered my email address. This is one place among others I know that Derek frequents, thus this post. How did Xfactorservers get my email address to send me unsolicited offers? Not trying to be rude, but really, remind me how I did provide my email and accepted such notifications and I'll be on my merry way. Thanks
[MyIS]Dan
I got the same, no biggie tho as at the bottom of the email: You are receiving this email because you opted in at CALeague Unsubscribe x@gmail.com from this list: hXXp://XFactorServers.us1.list-manage.com/unsubscribe?u=xxxxc=488f44cc4c (I killed the URL and changed the string of #'s & letters)
Derek
Dan;43866']I got the same, no biggie tho as at the bottom of the email: (I killed the URL and changed the string of #'s & letters) Correct . We are following all spam rules in regards to email marketing. You can opt out at the bottom of the email as well as we are following every other regulation in regards to spam rules. We have premesion to use the email list (when you signed up for cal) as we were a sponsor for CAL. We just sent out a test email to get rid of the bounced emails as well as people that don't want the email. I know it may be annoying but it takes 3 seconds to remove yourself and honestly you get spam emails trying to sell pills every day. It's also really no different then getting a stupid flyer in the mail which you can't even opt out for. Thanks Derek.
MjrNuT
Yeah, of course I did the unsubscribe. ;P On the confirm email...it gives a CAL Xfactorservers. Making an account at CAL, which was 1 year ago, no competition whatsoever on my part or ever, got me on this list? I thought CAL died? This makes no sense to me and is unsolicited spam, at best. (now it's at best CPL) I think it's a biggie actually as well as for anyone else.

It also doesn't matter if CAL is dead or not.

Again, I never checked a box to say something to the effect of, Receive Newsletters, but I could be mistaken as I said it was over a year ago. Moreover, could you explain the dead CAL source of email lists so that others are aware and not to be confused or annoyed as I am. Actually, your last statement is completely false. I don't get spam daily from anywhere. Please don't make generalizations.
[MyIS]Dan
huh? To be honest, did you read the T&C for CAL when you made an account there? I'm pretty sure there would have been something like "Your email may be passed on to our sponsors or partners blah blah" Least there is a opt. out link. EDIT: All hitting reply at the same time LOL this was @post4

On a side note, we thought this through and made sure we were following the rules before hand. We knew a thread was going to be created hence why we are explaining in a professional matter. MjrNuT
I can safely say I read the T&C. You have it to just be sure though? Also, I've never ever received a Newsletter from Cal since making that account. In all of 12+ months ever. Furthermore, this email was not headered as CAL, it was headered as XfactorServers. The unsubscribe comes backing letting you know it has a relationship with CAL. This is misleading, especially since the initial email is about game server offers, NOT about CAL. I'm complaining about your methods of buying an email list from CAL and passing it off as your own. The initial email makes no statement that XfactorServers is a Sponsor of CAL, nor does it come as a NewsLetter from CAL, which is what people OPTED in for. I may be unequivically wrong and others here can set me straight and I'll go on my merry way, but at best you've got a loophole. I'm not familiar with SPAM rules, I'm not a GSP, but I do know what I sign up for, whereas you might just think others do, forget, and accept the inconvenience. Sorry I'm not one of them that's all. Good luck then

So you have never got a piece of junk mail ? flyer in the mail ? phone call at 6 pm from someone trying to sell you something ? Impressive. All of the above which you can't opt out for. Simply opt out and move on.
Karkey
Hay you could add it to your black list on your mail server or to be even worse you could bounce back a response every time that email address sends you an email just a suggestion if i was getting spam
jbiloh
Derek has done nothing wrong. Outlets like CAL commonly provide mailing lists as part of the compensation package for sponsors. By joining CAL you accepted such terms. Nothing to see here, move along.

ECF
Seriously folks. I do not like spam as much as the next person. However in this case you do have the opt out option so you do not receive the emails any longer. How many people actually read the TOS of each website they signup on? I would say 99% of our clients don't. Consider this locked as it is not going to help anyone with running their business or games.
