Velocity doesnt even offer ranked as far as I can tell from their site.

One reason reselling is not allowed.. Taken from the direct-hosting.us site

Your Server , Your Rules

Not true with Ranked. You need to run your servers under EA's ROE or they can be deranked.

Along with service quality issues like the one mentions by the OP.

Yep, complying against "padding servers" and "servers that may give an unfair advantage over rankings", etc.

Seems their either ranked, or selling "unranked" servers as "ranked". IP space shows they have a simple dedicated server with Colocrossing.

Yup. They implemented the no Reselling from 2142 on since BF2 reselling was a fiasco.

Hmm, I don't ever recall seeing a reseller heh.

Than again BF2 was what? 5 years ago now? I remember a project where a few guys were hacking at the DLL's replacing the EA ranking IP's and replacing with a "custom ranked" project. I wonder what ever happened to that..

They were actually the py files which if your smart you lock down or restrict access to on unranked servers ;)

They tried to get unranked to rank but it had to be on a providers IP that was ranked.

I remember a few years ago you could rent a box from an EA ranked provider and you were allowed to run BF2 ranked servers, with limited access to the box. Maybe that is what they mean by "reselling". You can still do this with BF2, no?

I've haven't seen it done any other way than that.

You can rent a dedi from us and get desktop to the machine, W/ ranked servers. What you don;t get is access to the files.

I'm sorry, I didn't explain properly.

The project was successful in replacing the hostname of the EA rank collecting server, with another server. A fully custom "ranked system" was put in place for a non-ranked server. I remember helping a clan set it up once back in the day.
