OS server

XP is designed as a PC based operating system. As such it contains many features that a server OS does not have or need. This causes it to be bloated and to run slower than a server OS.

I would recommend using Windows 2003 server fi you have the choice. However there is no known limitation on running XP for your remotes with our software.

If you need some trouble, go with XP for your servers :-P

Its not that XP suck but if its all about having a cheaper OS for your server and lower your licence cost, it does not worth the change .. stay with Win2003 or Win2008. If you dont run HL game, stay with 2003 for 2010/2011 or take the Win2008 R2 and DONT make the Win2008 update each day or your gonna cry your mom.

yeah just like what agentpr24 said.

if your not running boosted server like 1000fps, just stick with 2003. Less bugs, etc. 2008 is a newer OS, can run 1000fps but you will get updates, bugs, few errors/bsod but its a newer os... so you can't really complaint.

i ran some updates before once a week and it had problems for me =/ i juis tstopped doing it unless its really needed now.

08 R2 is really good :)

However, I wouldn't consider using a personal home OS like window vista or such on running your server.
