HLDS.exe crash with faulting kernel32.dll or patch.dll

Hello, guys.

Some of HLDS servers on my dedicated sometimes crash with faulting module kernel32.dll or patch.dll.

I know that kernel32.dll works with memory and its dynamic link library. Server uses 4.5 RAM of 8Gb.

In one thread here about AA3 server crash with the same faulting (kernel32.dll) the issue was about DEP. Is it about Data Execution Prevention and it should be turned off in WIndows?

Does any of you have any suggestions about that crashes?

Thank you.

I thought turning off DEP would help but not. Still some HLDS servers crashes with kernel32.dll module (patch.dll was Anti CSDos problem).

Also dedicated server run 4 COD series servers, TF2 and SWAT 4 with no problems.

If its ok with RAM and DEP is turning off in Windows is there any things that shoud be turned off\on in BIOS or Windows?

Can CPU affinity somehow be connected with RAM proper work?

I will appreciate any help and replies. Thanks.

  • 2 weeks later...

It shows errors in event log. One hlds.exe server crashes with mp.dll, amxmodx_mm.dll, unknown module and so on. I agree that it can be caused by some plugins f.e. csf anti-cheat that makes huge work.

What can you say about execute disable bit technology? It something like DEP and should be turned off in bios?

Thank you.
