coper
Hello I'm running CS 1.6 servers and since I have tcadmin ping increased by approximately 10 ms (sometimes more) to all users not just me. I'm using windows 2003 server 64 bits enterprise edition with intel Q9550 and 8 GB of RAM memory (pc resources are not saturated). I set the tcadmin monitor to run BelowNormal priority. I don't know what else to do with this issue. This is my master server but I'm experiencing this issue on remote machines also. I have the rates set correctly and I repeat before start using tcadmin the ping was lower. Any idea? Something to prove? Thanks in advance. Derek
This is NOT a tcadmin problem and tcadmin has no affect on performance at all...
coper
Something has to do cause if I set monitor to run with normal priority I have more ping in all servers. Running with belownormal the situation is improving but not enough. So I disagree with that thought, tcadmin has to do somehow with the performance of servers. ECF
Nope. All our software does is start the server with the commandline you give it. Unless you have too much running on your machine. Then you may see an impact.
adamnp
Make sure you have the command line entered correctly. Double, and triple check.
studeggle
I'd guess load (iether CPU, RAM, or Hard Drive) is the issue if setting to priorities affects it. As that would allow your network and operating system too have a higher priority and less devoted to computations and such from the game. Add to that running tcadmin does generate additional load, while it is a good streamlined program with minimal load manualy starting your games by hand will always take up less resources. coper
Hi, Make sure you have the command line entered correctly. Double, and triple check. I think my command line is ok. C:\UserFiles\user\GameServers\TCxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\hlds.exe -console -game cstrike +ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -port 27015 +maxplayers 16 +exec server.cfg +map de_dust2 -insecure +sys_ticrate 150 +sv_lan 0 Can you tell me if you see something wrong? make sure your power scheme is set to 'alwayson' aswell I don't know what do you mean with powe scheme, can you help me please? And the last question is about the option "Stop Delay". What is their functionality? Thank you
ECF
The stop delay in TCAdmin is the amount of seconds the software will wait from the time it sends the stop command to the service to the time it send the start command. Some games require a few seconds to shut down. This would not effect CS at all. You should leave it as default.
coper
Thanks for the answer. About 90 distributed in 3 machines. 1. Q9550 with 8GB of RAM (Master Server with Windows 2003 Server 64bits Enterprise Edition) 2. Q6600 with 8GB of RAM (Remote Server with Windows 2003 Server 64 bits Enterprise Edition) 3. i7 860 with 8GB of RAM (Remote Server with Windows 2008 Server 64 bits Enterprise Edition) I had the same servers in linux before tcadmin. And I had a better ping.
ECF
From what I have heard linux may ping a tiny bit better only with the HLDS engine. However we do not support linux, so it is a mute point at least in these forums
dimitrifrom31
C:\UserFiles\user\GameServers\TCxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\hlds.exe -console -game cstrike +ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -port 27015 +maxplayers 16 +exec server.cfg +map de_dust2 -insecure +sys_ticrate 150 +sv_lan 0 sys_ticrate is very low, not to mention I would set it in the server.cfg, not in cmd line. sv_lan 0 doesnt need to be in cmd line aswell. Try this command line : -console -game cstrike +ip %serverip% -port %serverport% +maxplayers %slots% +exec server.cfg +map de_dust2 -pingboost 3 +sys_ticrate 1000 and for server.cfg : sv_maxrate 25000 sv_minrate 5000 sv_maxupdaterate 101 sv_minupdaterate 66 sys_ticrate 1000 sv_unlag 1 sv_maxunlag .5 fps_max
Goran
Did You try to run monitor in console mode? I always run it so I can see what's happening. I'm not totally sure, but setting sv_lan 0 could mean that server is non-steam??? Are your server up to date? Also, 90 servers on 3 machine seems much...
