New Iphone 4 Announced. Will be avaliable on June 24 to US!

$199 for 16GB / $299 for 32 GB w/ 2 year contract.

The new iPhone will have Apple's own A4 chip and a larger battery that will offer 40% more talk time than the previous model. It will also be capable of HSDPA/HSUPA speeds of 7.2Mbps down and 5.8Mbs up. Surprisingly, the iPhone will not see a storage bump in this generation, maxing out at 32GB like the current iPhone 3GS.

 

Other new additions include 802.11n Wi-Fi, a gyroscope to detect motion on 6 axes, as well as an LED flash to supplement the new 5-megapixel auto-focus lens. The updated camera will have 5x digital zoom and will record 720p HD video at 30 frames per second. Videos captured can be edited on the device using the new iMovie for iPhone.

 

The new iPhone 4 will also have a secondary microphone on the top for noise cancellation, as well as a front-facing camera for video calls. It will also use the smaller micro SIM, making use of the smaller SIM standard like the iPad.

 

Size-wise, it will be just 9.33mm thick, which is 24% thinner than the current iPhone 3GS. It will have a glass front and back with a stainless steel band that wraps around all sides. This band is used as part of the antenna system for the GSM, UMTS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth radios.

 

iPhone 4 will also have a Retina Display, a new display technology that packs in 326 pixels per inch, compared to the current iPhone's 163 ppi. Noting that the detection limit of the human eye is 300 ppi, Jobs described that the iPhone 4's display will "comfortably" exceed this and that text will be seen as a "fine printed book." The new iPhone's display will be the same 3.5-inch size of the current iPhone 3GS but with a resolution of 940 x 640 pixels and an 800:1 contrast ratio and the same IPS technology used in the iPad's display.

 

The new iPhone 4 model will go on sale on June 24 in the U.S., France, Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom. In the U.S., it will cost $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model with a new 2-year contract. iPhone 4 will be available in 88 countries by the end of September."

I think ATT has the exclusive rights with Apple until 2012 from what I have read. While I use the I-Phone with ATT and have no problems, there are certain areas (New York City) in particular where ATT cannot keep up with the data requirements for all the I-Phone users.

 

I would imagine that once the contract is up with ATT, Apple will be bring on more carriers such as Verizon and Sprint.

 

As for the phone itself... I still have the phone I purchased 2 years ago. I feel no need to upgrade since the upgrades are more gimmicks than feature IMHO.

When will APPLE learn and ditch ATT, they couldn't even show off the video chat at the launch, ATT couldnt handle the load from all the people in the room.

I hope you know that the video chat is done over wifi only not ATT network.

 

the call is from ATT network but you have to have WIFI to use the videochat which seems kinda lame =/. That is why steve jobs mention something about if all these people get out of the wifi so they can test it out.

 

Also, I think the EVO has video chat but its done from a program like fring or skype. EVO looks cool, but i just love the games on the iphone :)

did u see steve jobs presentation? was epic fail, couldnt connect to wifi, wasonly due to wifi overload as too many ppl were blogging during the presentation but still funny. google for the video.

 

Apple is shite imo, not that their products are total rubbish but the way they fool customers is just lame and the fact customers are happy getin fooled is even worse.

Their marketing strategy is retards orientated, sorry to say that but its true. Anouncing they will be short in products to make ppl feel like apple products are rare (lol!) then "forgetting by accident" one of their prototype so it can be analyzed on a website and every1 talks about it (again lol!) not to mention stupid media relaying those useless infos helping apple to get efficient and free advertisement.

disgusting, i hate anything apple. I will stick to Motorola droid and blackberry. To bad apple had to come up with some sort or a stupid idea like an ipod or ipad, its the only reason they are still around and not died due to the economy.

 

I agree 100% on top of that ATT's network is not the best

ROFL you do realize you basically just complemented the ipod, and ipad. Although I'd have to disagree with any notion that the ipad is a good thing in my opinion its nothing more then a really heavy iphone that can't make calls.

 

Judging products based on the manufacture is ignorance. Your welcome to boycott a company I have done so plenty of the time as its one of the main ways to get them to listen. But spouting on and on about a product you've never touched and with no facts just it was made by so and so simply points to ignorance and possibly stupidity.

My wife has the 3gs and my friend just got the EVO yesterday, OMG, The EVO is so much nicer in every respect. Can't compare it to the iphone 4 because I haven't seen one. One thing I like about the droids is that the apps are open source.

The EVO does look nice and its made by HTC. There is no reviews on the IPHONE 4 yet since it isn't out yet. The only good thing I like about the apple OS is of the games. I don't like those java games or flash games when i can play street fighter 4 or like plant vs zombies on the iphone :)

 

the droid phones are way more smoother when you try to navigate. It takes less resource and its much quicker, but the only thing that droids don't beat is apple's app store.

 

So personally it really depends what you DO with your phone.

Any phones are going to have pro and cons, there isn't a phone that is "PERFECT" basically.
