  1. 1. What mobile phone should i buy?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

im having some question about the purchase of a new mobile phone for my business and maybe i could use your help and experience to guide me on this.

Im searching for a mobile phone and be able to use the following applications and options ;

- Have acces to TCAdmin

- Have acces to WHMcs

- Have acces to Kayako LiveChat

- Have acces to Windows Server 2003/2008 Remote Desktop

- Have acces to SSH for my hosting server (cPanel/WHM)

- Have acces to my webmail (i use Squirrel Mail)

I know that what i ask, some people will say "use a laptop" but if i could manage to do some light work on my mobile phone, it would make my life a little bit better. I have a small preference for Palm since i was using it 1 year ago. I was able to acces the Windows Remote Desktop but for the webmail is was hell.

Some people say that the iPhone is the best, other Blackberry. I also dont want to ask the provider since they tried to make buy anything. If you could simply give me your advise, experience and/or comments, it would be very appreciated.

FYI, im in Montréal (Québec - Canada) and our provider are Rogers, Bell and Telus just in case because sometime we dont have the same thing here as in the USA.

Thanks for your time and help guy's :-)

According to my experiences:

IPHONE

- Have access to TCAdmin - If you use SAFARI, yes but not in mobile view

- Have access to WHMCS - Has its own official WHMCS APPS but has a fee

- Have access to Kayako LiveChat - Don't think there is a official one but there are 3rd party developers who have some sort of kayako products.

- Have access to Windows Server 2003/2008 Remote Desktop - yes iphone has this and mobile view as well but cost for the app in the app store.

- Have access to SSH for my hosting server (cPanel/WHM) - I believe there is a app for this regarding SSH in the app store as well.

- Have acres to my webmail (i use Squirrel Mail) - you can hook up your mail account under the iphone and it will auto push if you set it to. If you want to use safari or opera to view squirrel mail you may.

As far as I know no phone supports kayako live response, and I am certain there is no directly sanctioned support.

For live helpdesk the only good app for iphone is livehelp which has been stellar, and its been to long since I had a blackberry too tell you who if anyone properly supports that.

Go to the store and play with the phones to decide which one as they will all pretty much handle what you want.

I have tried this option but when you ask them what you want, they try to sell you anything. On that, most of them do not understand my need ... that is the reason of this post.

Personnaly, i like the 3 of them and i would take one of each but i would look stupid having 3 mobile phone on me loll

doing live response on a phone is a pain anyway

That's an opinion I love our live response to phone, easy to work with and a major help as I'm working with the equipment. Prevents having to have someone sitting staring at a computer screen to have the live response up.

I meant typing on a phone keyboard is a pain. For me phone is more about a way to get warned so I can dothe work on a real comp unless i have no choice.
