markvis14
Hello, I am wondering what performance wise would be better: Using a remote file server or just host the game files on my master server? Thanks.
LFA
It depends on the file server/master network speed and the distance between remotes. Configure the remotes to keep a copy of the downloaded file. The game file will only be downloaded if it doesn't exist on the remote or if it has changed on the file server/master.
Brett
I have always wondered about that. Even if it retains the same file name, does TCAdmin first check to see if the original copy is a different size than the cached one? I have been running batch scripts to empty the GameInstalls on all of our remotes once in a while to keep them updated. That would be excellent to not have to do though. Guest Trevor1
Yes It checks the local server for that file if its not there it will transfer from the master. If the file is there it will compare the last modified date and if the file on the master is newer it will overwrite it on the remote if they are the same it just continues with the install of the service.
