COD4 Files Help.

Hello.

 

We currently run our servers with localized_russian_iw00.iwd (and so on). But now it is some difficulties with free space on 1 machine.

 

I wonder how to run server only with iw_00.iwd (and so on)? When I delete localized_russian_iw00.iwd and other iwd files server starts with errors.

 

Does any of you have any ideas or working example?

 

UPDATED. Idea is to reduce disk space that server uses. Now its about 5.5Gb for clean server.

remove the video files if not already, the rest is mandatory. the russian files are about the same as english ones just named differently I guess. I got localized french on my setup.

I know that. But still i wonder does english version have localized_... files or not?

If you have windows 2008 place all the large files in one folder (c:\cod4files). In the game server's folders delete the file and make symlinks to the files in c:\cod4files with mklink.

Nice idea but im running WS 2003.

Can I use this symlink for hl2 in SRCDS games?

I wouldn't recommend it because the game get gets updated frequently. One game server will try to update the files and they will be in use by another game server.

It creates folder as a link to another folder. It means that you cant actually have main directory on server where all configs and logs are placed because junction creates only folder-link.

Just for information: we added one more RAID1 to system.
