The exploit has been available for some time now -- not sure where MS keeps getting 'its coming soon' from...According to Aluigi MS are the ones that actually wrote the proof of concept---So you'd think they woudl acknowledge the existence. We were seeing signs of scanning for this more than 2 months ago, and evidence on hardware 4-6 weeks ago. MS's update appears to correct the problem properly.
