Moving masterserver and changing OS

Hi forum,

 

Our master server (Windows) is not protected against DDoS, so we're thinking about moving to a new server which run Ubuntu. I just took a look at the TCAdmin folder, and the size is 165GB. The userfiles is about 127GB (16 services).

 

We wanna use SSD, as we're hosting Minecraft servers, but we only have 2x 120GB of space. I don't have much knowledge for Linux, but I was told that the files wouldn't be that big on Linux. Is that right? Would we be able to move the server, or do we need more space?

What makes you think that Linux has DDoS protection? DDoS protection needs to be BEFORE your server, if the packages still reach your server, it will still overload.

We're moving everything to a server that has DDoS protection, regardless if we use Windows, Linux or any other OS.
