Dennis
We think it would be great if we could allow users to see what server they are located on, just like admins. It happens that we have to reboot a server (under maintanance fx), and it would be really sweet if we could announce this on social medias or by creating a network issue saying "server1 may go offline for a few minutes". Right now our clients don't know what server they're located on... We just think it would be a lot easier if clients were able to see the name of the server where they're located :-) Dennis
Raizio
It is possible to just name the IPs. But I agree, numbers are harder to remember than names. Also you name your servers via numbers? I'd be dulled to bits!
Dennis
We don't name our servers after numbers. It was just an example. We actually call our servers the 'letters' from the Greek alphabet, such as Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, Theta and so on. When offering dedicated ip's to all services, it's hard to name the IPs. That would require that we for each IP made an a record called Alpha01, Alpha02, Alpha03 for all IPs that are allocated to the Alpha server - That's gonna take a very long time, lol! Dennis
Admins should have the option to make the server name visible. It shouldn't be mandatory.
