Wow, I don't know what to say about this one. Other than, wow. Just, wow.

Sierra Entertainment announced today that to the delight of many F.E.A.R. fans they will be releasing something called F.E.A.R. Combat on August 17th. This will be the complete (wow! multiplayer portion of the game which is an unbelievable jester on the part of Sierra.

The F.E.A.R. Combat download will offer the entire F.E.A.R. multiplayer experience as I said and this includes:

*19 multiplayer maps

*10 game modes

*12 different weapons

*The ability to download custom user content (maps and such)

*Punkbuster support

F.E.A.R. Combat users will be able to play against other Combat users and retail F.E.A.R. users as well. Needless to say, this story caught me off guard. I absolutely love F.E.A.R. multiplayer. It is unique and very slick as is the single player game. Now that it will be made available for free to everyone, oh yes, fun times ahead.

On Thursday, August 17th, you will have to go to the official site here to register and download the game and to get your key code to access all of the above. Also on the 17th a patch (1.07) will be made available to current retail users, which will add all the content which Combat will have and that will include 3 new maps, a new weapon (I think) and several other additions (team auto balance for one) that improve the game and allow retail and Combat users to kill each other. I say kudos to Sierra Entertainment for this move, and I look forward to fragging all of you in slo-mo goodness next Thursday.

Good to see Sierra is still actively updating and developing FEAR
