marcelokruk
Do you use java jdk or normal java to run your minecraft services?
ECF
I use regular Java. Just make sure that you install the 64bit Java if you are running a 64 bit OS.
Dennis
java version "1.7.0_65" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.5.3) (7u71-2.5.3-2~deb7u1) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.65-b04, mixed mode) But if you think you'll be able to lower the memory usage by switching java version, you're wrong

krazos
In some older servers like 1.5.2 some plugins will not work correctly in java 8 Exactly. So what should I do? Run a server with Java 7 and another with Java 8? You can't run multiple Java, right?
ECF
Yes. You can have multiple Java installs on your server. However, you will need to point to the correct Java executable path for each type of MC server you run. One may use 7 and another may use 8 etc.. marcelokruk
You could make a custom action script so clients can select the version they want for their server
