sirVIPER
Ok I have tried to create a HLTV secondary application and had no luck. I took the current HLTV game configuration that I have in supported games and added the ports to the secondary application section. There is a dynamic contect drop down there but I do not understand why it would be used there? I added it to tfc in supported games under secondary apps and cannot get it to install. I have now reverted everything back to the way it was. Can someone tell me how to set this up correctly to get it to work? I like the concept so I dont have to manually install the service for each hltv.
ECF
Take a gander at this KB article. http://esupport.tcadmin.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_ a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=20&nav=0,3 Find attached two configs. One is the HLTV config, and one is our CS config. You can check both of them to see how everything is setup.HLTV.cfg

sirVIPER
Yeah I used that to try to set it up. To know avail.
ECF
Works 100% on our test server. Maybe you have something setup differently on your servers?
sirVIPER
I had a supported game service already setup for HLTV which I would use to create manual services for HLTV installs. What do I need to do to that supported game to make it function as a sec app also? I added the ports under the secondary app section, but I am not shure if I am suppose to use the drop down in that section to add perameters and if so where and why? sirVIPER
I looked at the cfg you had for dl in the kb. The only difference between yours and mine are that you did not list ports in the sec app section just / i think and I have the connect part that you have in the cfg built into the service parameters which will have no effect on this. Should I have a / in the port, query port, etc instead of 27020?
ECF
Shouldn't really matter as those are not used anyways. What exactly is the problem? Is it not installing?
sirVIPER
correct. I am guessing that once installed I should see it somewhere to where it has a stop start button blah blah and I have never gotten the install email after an install attempt. Is the port expression, query expression and such suppose to be filled in on the game such as tfc using the sec app or is that to be filled in on the sec app or is it just really unused fields? sirVIPER
Ok first thing that has me confused is what is the port expressions section used for? If I can understand its function then I can figure it out.
ECF
There are a couple things you will want to check. 1. When you assign the secondary app to the primary game service, there is an "optional" checkbox. If that box is checked the secondary app will not be installed along with the game server. You would need to install it afterwards if this is the case. To do that you would click on the primary service in the list and goto "Other Gaming Services". You can install it from there. Also once it is installed, you should go there to check the status and start/stop it. And also fill in the email template under the HLTV config. That will send the email when it is installed. sirVIPER
that is what I did but it never installed if I go back to other game services it showed nothing installed. Ok I will work on this some more tomorrow gotta get some sleep gknight.

sirVIPER
Ok I figured this out. You have to build a HLTV folder in your gaminstalls directory and add an hltv.cfg in there this is not stated plainly in the that kb article I would add it. Now I have this working. Also one thing that would help is if you would add to the dynamic contect drop down the primary server password so that it can be set on hltv config for private servers. Without the password HLTV cannot join the server and it will save from having to manually edit after install to get it up and running.
ECF
You do not have to add an HLTV folder. You can simply create the file link in the config because the HLTV.cfg file already exists in the primary install. Also in the HLTV config leave the gmaes files folder field blank. You can of course have the secondary app use its own set of files if you wish, but in this instance you can simply point to the already existing hltv.cfg. And you can add the %rconpassword% to the config template file. This will use the primary rconpassword for the variable.

Ok I will try linking the cfg tonight, but if you are talking about using the rconpassword for the second part of my request that will not work unless the client is using the same password for rcon and to make the server private. What I am talking about is I need a variable that I can set in the hltv cfg that will put the clients game server private password in the hltv config for server_password so that HLTV can join the game server when set to private. ECF
You can use both primary and secondary variables for the secondary application. So you would use the %privatepassword% variable from the primary game server in the hltv.cfg. When the app is created it will insert whatever you have entered into the private password field during setup.
