how do i create a installation of a game mod

I am working on the same issue with a different game. I do not understand the directory structure entirely.

I really dont want there to be TCA.Mods, TCA.Maps, TCA.Patches in the users directories. Do these folders need to be in the game.zip file?

Do I need to make these invisible?

Do I put a .zip or .rar file into these TCA. folders? I figure that I do but just asking because I see nothing that really explains everything clearly in help files...

Or do I put the zip in the folder but dont include those directories in the maingame.zip file but keep them in the TCA. folders and it will find them there?

I do want to make the folders invisible to the users if I must include them I believe since it does not make much sense to have them there and kinda gives away what kind of system I am using to administrate the games to vets.

Thanks

OK right on. I just did my first mod install on this system and figured that out. Was trying to stop the guessing of it all. I see it will create a folder for the game and within that folder just add the TCA. folders and not the entire game. So you will have the zip of the game in the game installs root directory, a directory for the game in the game installs directory and the TCA. folders inside the game folder itself and the zip files for the mods and maps inside that. This is on the remote machine if you have it setup to keep the files from the main file server.

Like so:

C:\GameInstalls\game.zip

C:\GameInstalls\game\TCA.Mods\mod.zip

I was just confused because I figured if I changed the size of the game folder contents by adding a mod that the system would then want to transfer all the contents in the folder rather than the zip thinking it was more current and up-to-date.

It looks much better that way. I read that you put all the contents of the game folder in one zip file which through me off because that would include those TCA. files.

I dug deep trying to find a clear explanation of this.

Thanks again.

Im very lost myself, with all of the file installations, what are the TCA.maps and TCA.mods, IM trying to get counter-strike and I just dont know where to put the files and how to do it, and im clueless on how to set it up so that when a user creates a server it makes a folder for them and puts the gamefiles in there folder (so they can put whatever cfg files they want)... and Im also trying to install the mod Empires, and im running into some problems obviously as with CSS...

Please Help...

thanks

Multiple posts aren't needed... All that really does is annoy the people who you are asking to take time to help you by creating more for them to sift through.

I don't intend to scold you but really... it's just common sense.

Your question was responded to in your first thread.
