Uncertain how to properly install games and get all the files to work properly.

Im very lost myself, with all of the file installations, what are the TCA.maps and TCA.mods, IM trying to get counter-strike and I just dont know where to put the files and how to do it, and im clueless on how to set it up so that when a user creates a server it makes a folder for them and puts the gamefiles in there folder (so they can put whatever cfg files they want)... and Im also trying to install the mod Empires, and im running into some problems obviously as with CSS...

Please Help...

thanks

sorry about the multiple post, I got rather confused. So now what it seems is that when I go to Create a Game or Voice Server, I make a server for CSS, I give it to a dummy user (to test it out) and in C:\UserFiles it will make the \username\TCXXXXXX etc, but 5 minutes later it was erased, and the server did not start etc. With the zip file, do I zip the actual folder, which I guess would be named CSS? so when you open the zip you see the folder CSS? or do I just zip the files? I think i could get a server to run by going to Gaming Services, but from my understanding there is no need to start a server that way.

Maybe my Game Details are wrong.

This is what I have:

Name: Counterstrike Source

shhort name: CSS

exec: srcds.exe

Relative Dir. C:/gameinstalls

relative user dir: C:/userfiles

force path for ftp: C:/userfiles

gamefiles folder name: CSS

I also have a CSS.zip in C:/Gameinstalls

Thanks again for the support and apologize for the newbish questions and double post.

Okay that seemed to work, however the server isnt running. The files were all put where they go and the server was given to the user correctly. It also says the server is running, but im checking it on gametracker and its not running, also no new srcds.exe opened up. I believe i checked the interact with desktop so Shouldnt I see the server running? I mean I obviously have something wrong. I have the srcds.exe file in the C:\Gameinstalls folder, is that the incorrect place for it?

Thanks again,

Charles

so what does interact with desktop do exactly then?

-game cstrike -console +ip 74.86.189.193 -port 27015 +maxplayers 12 +exec server.cfg +map de_aztec

it says its running and everything, but when i check on status it says hostname is not responding, and I cannot connect to it.

what does your server.cfg look like? Is all of the files present in the user install folder?

You can see what the problem is by creating a shortcut of the srcds.exe. Click properties and add your command line to the end of the target location.

You should have a folder called C:\Gameinstalls. Within that folder you should have a folder called CSS. Within that folder you should have all the files for a CSS game including subfolders etc..

When you create a new game server using the automation screen, TCAdmin simply takes the files from that folder and copies them to C:\Userfiles\<username>\Gameservers\TCXXXXXXXXXX folder. The x's will actually be numbers. That is it.

I suggest using this troubleshooter to figure out where you have gone wrong.

That gives me a box that says.

Launcher Error

Failed to load the launcher DLL:

THe Specified module could not be found....

The folder that gets created for

C;\userfiles\hisname\gameservers\TCXXXXXX\

I have srcds.exe right there

and then i have the folder \cstrike also

is that correct? or is that suppose to be called CSS? or what?

ive been trying to get this working through trial and error the past 5 days, and i have had no luck what so ever...
