Im trying to setup a CoD4 server.

 

 

Where do I go to get the game files for the dedicated server?

How do I patch it to most recent?

Then how do I set it up with TcAdmin?

- Buy the game

- Load the changed files (you can find them on IW site)

- Read the manual.

Just be aware, COD4 will rape your hard disks. Each install takes 6gb of space =/.

Actually 5.13GB Delete the Vid folder its not needed.

How do I get CoD4 on my server and use TCAdmin with it?

Not to mention Im not pshyically near the server so I can pop the DVD in. Im over in NY while the server I rent is over in TX......

What are the folders and files do you have under the CoD4 program files folder? I have a STEAM copy and knowing STEAM, I dont know if it has ALL the files in the CoD4 folder.

well even if someone gave me all the files, I wouldnt be able to actually play the game for lets say single player or something (piracy) because there are other essential files outside of the program files folder to play when you install the game.

 

I don't know how someone shows proof of purchase off a program like STEAM.... but I suppose I screenshot would work...

 

Anyways, I -think- I found a folder where STEAM keeps the CoD4 files together. Can someone please tell me what files and folders are under their CoD4 program files folder?

Im not sure if the steam version would work since i -think- it requires steam to run the exe.

 

I do hope your hosting this for personal use and not for resale. If your getting into the GSP world you probally need to do your homework on piracy laws and getting any game server files all together.

 

We all here have no problem helping people get files but as stated you do need to BUY the games your hosting.

yes - its personal use for my clan. No piracy. If you need a screenshot of both my STEAM accounts and my signed copy then I suppose I will take pictures but I still dont see a point in doing so.

You can skip the /main/video, the dedicated server does not need the video files, 1.2Gb less space needed in the end.

The server is located in TX.

 

Anyways, what I did was I downloaded and installed STEAM onto the server and installed CoD4 that way. Then I just copy+pasted all the CoD4 files/folders into GameInstalls/CoD4 folder. Then I went and patched it, upadated punkbuster, and now Im lost.

 

What do I do now?

Btw - Im trying to make the server ranked.

Set up the server in tcadmin now...i suggest read the tcadmin manuel for setup instructions.

Well I know how TCAdmin works, I have sucessfully setup 10 CSS servers and a TF2 server. But I do not know how to go about setting this one up. I have created the CoD4 service which is currently stopped because when turned on - its not ranked.

 

Where in the config, or startup command line do I configure ranked or unranked?

Depending on how you set some of the variables in the cod4 cfg, determines if the server is ranked or not. A good source on cod4 is http://www.fpsadmin.com
