leetservers
Hi All!! Just giving you guys a heads up. After you install Vista SP1 the -console is DOA. You have to use /admin from now on. Otherwise you wont see your console windows. =Bobby
trev-gdr
Thanks for that, how much did the service pack help vista by the way? I've been waiting for the sp to be finalized before I moved my home PC over to Vista. Do games perform a bit better now?
leetservers
No clue, just installed it. Vista has been sooo bad for me I figured SP1 couldnt hurt, LOL -bobby

JasonF
I am going to skip Vista, it offers nothing for me. Games look just fine in DX9 and that alone does not make the headaches worth it.
ECF
I can honestly say I have run Vista since it came out. No problems to speak of. It does however take quite a bit of resources to run it. 1 gig of RAm is used just with an idle desktop on my machine...
JasonF
I built a machine for my brother when Vista first came out and I found it an annoying OS. The allow/deny windows popping up all of the time got old real quick. That was the last I have played around with it.
Defcon|Rich
There's been problems since day 1 with vista + rdp. http://clientforums.tcadmin.com/showthread.php?t=2883
DougK94
Dang Rich, I wish I would have remembered that thread a while back I applied SP1 last nite to my Vista Ultimate that I have been running since day 1, so far not found any problems at all with it. Defcon|Rich
Well.. After spending $400 for Vista Ultimate and having various issues over time I ended up reloading XP and performance has improved greatly so I'll be sticking with what works for now
Monk
Vista is windows ME (mistake edition) 2. I don't care for it. The only thing I like, is they axed the legacy power management timer for servicing interrupts and they use hpet now. Also; the auto tcp tuning option causes problems with lan xfers because it does a false calculation of the RTT bucket sizes from the sender. I'm happily running Windows XP64 and OpenSolaris/Dfly/FreeBSD/NetBSD with no issues.
