Derek
We are currently having a problem with our Dual Core AMD Opteron 275 Box (4 Cores) . 4 GB of ram and Windows Server 2003 64 Bit. The ram usage is never going above 1.5 GB and CPU is never going above 40%. We are having problems with the Tickrate on our CSS servers @ 100 Tick 500 FPS. The server hits 100 Tick but seems to not stay for consitent. The FPS never drops below 500 FPS so there is problem with the FPS. The hardware the network the configs seem to all be working fine so we are just very confused on why we are seeing the tickrate drop alot. JasonF
The server hits 100 Tick but seems to not stay for consitent. How do you know it does not stay at 100?
trev-gdr
Make note of which /s are dropping below 100. If the client's fps are dropping below 100, then their out rate will also drop below 100. Good explanation here: http://whisper.ausgamers.com/wiki/index.php/Tickrate#Net_graph_3_Explanation
Derek
The in is a solid 101 and the out is a solid 81. Yes we are running the servers at a perfect 512 fps. Its the only server on the box too.
Derek
I got it solved. Thanks GDR. PS. Nice Wiki! I found out that I had fps_max set to 80 which caused me to cut off at 80 tickrate out and bumped my fps_max to 120 and I get the nice good old solid 100 tickrate. Spartanfrog
Yeah most of the time you think the tickrate is falling below 100, it's actually just your rates/FPS .
soko
yeah, from my knowledge ticrate never varies. its the number of updates the server does per second. Its either 100 or not 100...it doesn't EVER change. fps and updates/sec can change but never ticrate.
Spartanfrog
Uhh yeah it changes. 33-100.
